Melissarr!
Packaging

When I was out shopping, I noticed this product of fruit rolls for kids. Personally I thought the packaging looked visually interesting and served its purpose of the target audience. They were bright so kids would favour in this and comes in different flavours to which the colour matched its flavour. The design language is child friendly as it states ‘with no added nonsense’ instead of ‘preservatives’. The typography is san serif and clear. If I were a child I’d love to eat healthily and try these out :)

Design for Editorial

Here is one design I have created using my thumbnails. It’s just a starting point on my iMac in ‘Indesign’ but I am liking the graffiti text and the layout of the body copy.

Final Logo Development For The Branding Of Wolverhampton

I have decided to go through with my origami design. I wanted to show a progressive flexible economy on my branding for The City of Wolverhampton. The picture above is development of a 3D origami ‘W’ letterform in which this shows the flexible in the strapline. The arrow is to state progression within the economy in how Wolverhampton is advancing itself. I did many drawings on size of type and typography I might use and came to a conclusion on either of the bottom ideas. I chose this colour palette as its bright and can show positive values. I think personally I like either of the above 2 designs.

Rebranding Wolverhampton

Linking my research and my ideas together. These were some of the designs I came up with for the brief, which was to design a new brand logo and animate for the city of Wolverhampton. I am happy with some of the ones I have developed as I was struggling at first, but now feel I know which concept I will follow to continue with.

‘You need me man, I don’t need you’

Just something I did in my spare time whilst I was listening to the song by Ed Sheeran. I wanted to combine image with text, needs more improvement though.

‘The Strokes’

One of the bands I’m very into at the minute, in my spare time I decided to design a logo on Illustrator using the knowledge I’ve learnt in Typography. This is what I came up with - a simple but yet modern design which I felt related to their music.

I started with the same design again but this time adding a brush stroke around the border. In black and white and vice versa. I cant decide which I like best or whether to include a brighter colour? Maybe using a red to bring up one of the lines or letters.

First Year Over!

Can’t believe how the time has flown! I remember the very first day I started!

It’s been an enjoyable first year. The work I have done I’ve learned a lot from and made some friends with some awesome people! :)

Now I have a long break off I should really do something productive….

‘Why Walk?’ Leaflet

A brief given to us in Typography, we were asked to design a 12 page leaflet (6 page back and front) to advertise ‘Sustrans, Why walk?’ We were given a copy of the text and I as a designer needed to have made this leaflet for families look interesting to read. No images were allowed and only 2 types of any font (serif and san serif) although any colour scheme could be incorporated. I made some mock up’s, design ideas and the final finished version of my leaflet. I feel I tried to pull off the hardest I could with what we were given.

Printmaking

A brief given to us for Visual Communication Skills. I was asked to pick an image based around the year 1970 and I decided on the Apollo 13 logo. I thought it was quite a simple design to choose and the key lines are visible. I edited this with a 1970’s font and included the date and time the rocket launched. I am happy with how this turned out considering how much help I needed in the process! :D
